I just want to confirm if I'm the only one having this issue. It's hard to test, because I have to wait for a generation of children to be born and grow to adulthood, and even then it only happens to about 8% of characters.

First, some characters in my game have two educational traits. Second, some characters have child traits that aren't evolving. For example, one guy Aemon, is both an "expert scientist" and an "incompetent scientist." Another character, Duncan, is age 37 and still has the Curious child trait. These issues are not present in starting game characters - only in people who mature into adulthood.

I am using the Ruler Designer mod, but the readme says that's compatible. I am using a custom portraits mod for a few characters with a change to the defines.lua, lowering
PORTRAIT_ADULT_MALE_AGE_THRESHOLD = 15, -- Male child to adult age portrait switch
PORTRAIT_ADULT_FEMALE_AGE_THRESHOLD = 15, -- Female child to adult age portrait switch

down to:

PORTRAIT_ADULT_MALE_AGE_THRESHOLD = 13, -- Male child to adult age portrait switch
PORTRAIT_ADULT_FEMALE_AGE_THRESHOLD = 13, -- Female child to adult age portrait switch

I was told though that just governs when characters acquire adult portraits and has no bearing on anything game play related, but maybe Conclave or GoT treats these lines of code differently, otherwise, I'm playing a vanilla GoT experience.

Edit: I've noticed a connection. Every character with two educational traits has the Maester trait, so it could be they roll a 2nd educational trait when they become Maesters? I have zero clue on the child traits though.

Don't pick on poor Aemon, he has his good days and his bad ones.

In one of my games, Arya Stark ended up with both Elusive Shadow and either Flamboyant Schemer or Intricate Webweaver (I forget which). I think this was caused by her being assigned Elusive Shadow by the history files while her education was still incomplete. Doesn't sound like that's a possible explanation for your characters.

I've seen it a couple times where if my kid was being trained in one way while being educated by someone with another focus they'd get both, like where my son being groomed for stewardship and being educated by a warrior (he had high stewardship, leave me alone! D:) ended up being both a decent steward and commander. I was tempted to keep it, but I reloaded it and even in the same circumstances they came out with only one education the second time.

Okay then, I guess that confirms I'm not the only one receiving double educational traits. I too have noticed Arya always gets double educational traits.

On the second point, has anyone had characters with child traits also not evolving, or is that just me?

Here I even have a courtier with THREE childhood traits that didn't evolve:

If others are getting this, I'm curious if this is stunting each character's growth or not. If it isn't, I guess I don't mind, but if it is, this is a serious problem.

My own character got a second education trait once - but it was from an event (follow my steward around for a day and learn how he squeezes the little people dry), so it seemed to be WAD at least in my case.

Hmm, my theory then is something similar is happening to all the Maesters. Perhaps when an adult becomes a Maester via an event, they pick up a 2nd educational trait? It would explain why all the Maesters have two educational traits.

Sounds like a childhood event firing for adults. Or an upgrade event that forgot to take away the old trait.

Don't think it was either. It was like "after a council meeting, you talk to your steward something something "Would you like to shadow me today and learn about what my job entails?"" Then there's a bunch of followup events triggering where you watch your steward collect taxes and deal with builders and crap while you watch and occasionally settle disputes and/or squish the smallfolk. At the end of it I got a level 2 stewardship education (I think that was only one of a couple outcomes), and I would have been pissed if it overwrote my old trait since I had level 4 martial.

I have no idea if it was a vanilla/Conclave event or a mod one. But it was cool either way (and adding level 2 stewardship wasn't exactly gamebreaking).
