Connection Problem Please Help

Hello all. I have been playing HOI2 since it came out. I have never played MP, but I am interested in getting into it. However, I have problems connecting to the Valkyrinet. When I try to connect, HOI2 minnimizes and a big black screen takes up like 2/3 of my monitor. I try clicking the taskbar and restoring HOI2, but it won't allow me. I can enter the Internet and Lan portions of MP, but not the Valkey. I don't use a router, and the firewall I use is the standard one that comes with Windows XP. I have even tried disabling the windows firewall and connecting, but the same thing happens.

Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this? Any help would be appreciated. I would really love to try some MP games with the greatist war game ever. Thanks again.

Have you tried a reinstall of HOI2?

All I can think of is that perhaps your version didn't install the V-net files properly.

That is my next step. I was hoping it was just something I had configured incorrectly. I am going to try the reinstall tonight.

Well I re-installed HOI2 and I am still having the same problem. I just don't know what it could be. Has anyone even heard of anything like this? Thanks for any help, and I will continue to look through the forums for t/sing tips.

I've not seen anything quite like this myself which suggests that it's an issue with your Windows/PC set-up. Some ideas:

1. Make sure that Direct-X and your video drivers are up-to-date

2. Close or remove any extraneous processes or peripherals

3. disable the Bink start-up video by renaming the avi folder

It could be a firewall interfering with the program as it tries to connect to vnet. Make sure your firewall either has the right exceptions entered or is turned off when connecting to vnet.
