Conquistadors

I just started playing EU and have a simple question that I can't find the answer to in the manual.
How do you obtain Conquistadors to explore new territory? Do you build them? Do you have to reach
a certain technology level? Are they given to you?

They're given to u at certain points if ur lucky depending on what country u play.

If you go into your files under DB, there is a leader database that lists all the leaders for each country and includes the years they arrive and the years they die or leave (or they could die in battle beforehand). It also includes their battle numbers (maneuver, fire, shock, siege).

When playing a new country, i always do a printout of the leaders for that country so I know when to expect them.
