Construction Bug

I`ve started building a city moat. But before it was finished, the city was conquered. I expected the construction to resume after the city was liberated, but it is in "infinity mode" and the estimated date of completion has changed from 1137 to 1142 to 1149 (it is 1134 in the game).

Is there no way to stop the construction?

If a reload doesn't work, editing the savegame seems the only way.

Open it with Wordpad or Notepad.
