Okay, which Mod is it that added this whole "contract dispute" where the employer contests my contractually agreed upon salvage rights? The one where I can either accept their crappy "settlement" while they steal my Mech salvage or dispute their claim with a crappy chance of winning. It's happened to me four times, and I've lost every dispute...which always costs me the best salvage.

It makes no freaking sense, particularly when my rep with the faction is higher than friendly. It was interesting the first time it happened, and I get it when you're a new Merc company with no rep, but it's jacking with all my salvage with an incredibly bad chance of success to get what you agreed to with the initial contract. There is no WAY my chance to win my contractually agreed upon salvage is <= 50%. This was an incredibly bad idea for an 'addition' to the game. It's especially galling when it's the Arano Restoration jacking with my company that way, which goes against the entire storyline.

It makes even LESS sense when it happens after a mission in which the employer wasn't even involved. No Mechs, no armor, no vehicles, no facilities...it's all my mechs, my transportation, my pilots, my risk.

*** EDIT ***

After figuring out which Mod controlled this 'event', digging through the .json, and then finally going to the Mod page on Nexus Mods I finally have the vision of the author. I'm now playing around with the values to suit my taste, as the author intended.

In short, you have my apologies, IceRaptor.

That said, I'd recommend including a 'Readme' in your Mod, since many users may experience this mod without seeking it out via BEX. In fact, this may be a good idea for each mod packaged in BEX, to include a list of definitions for each variable in case users want to customize it. (Please and thank you!)

yea that is a situation that pops up once in a while... less the perfect mod. but it's the only mod of it's type.. now.. if you can figure it out the entries, open up the mod.json file for that and you can literally edit the offending result out of existence. It'll keep it from happening to you again at least, but easy tiger.. the mod creator may not be able to set the mod up to detect specific conditions... such as those you noted.

I personally found it was happening a bit more then I liked myself to I reduced the chances of a contested loot happening. Welcome to the happy world of modding which is just chock full of unforseen results!

its one of the salvage mods.
it says that it will do that in the description before you downloaded it.

now if you are using a mod pack that includes a salvage mod well...thats something to talk to the mod pack makers about.

Yeah, it's not a mod I sought out. It's the "Loot Magnet" mod which was packaged with BEX 3025 CC's Edition. Like I said, it was interesting the first time I saw it early on, but it's ridiculous in the later parts of the game. The event is somewhat canon lore, given how the Great Houses would sometimes screw over Mercs in their employ (I'm looking at you, FWL). But I think the numbers are off.

I should probably state that the Mod DOES have some good applications, such as grouping items of the same type for salvage (like packaging a bunch of heatsinks together) so that you have roughly equivalent C-Bill value for each salvage selection.

I'm playing around with some of the numbers to see what happens. Given the cost you incur for each Dispute (~70k to ~100k C-Bills) and the MRB influence I'd figure that an employer screwing over Mercs on their contract should be slightly less of a sure-thing.

don't feel to shocked by results that don't make sense.. I run Loot Magnet as part of the Hyades Rim mod.. and just had a instance of having a salvage dispute with my self from the second of the Heavy Metal flashpoints...

Very strange result! :)

Could you share your findings on modifying this? I suspect it is controlled by the, "DisputeSuccessBase" commands, but I would be grateful if you could describe what you have learned of the commands and their effects.
Thanks for any insights for remedying this annoying situation.
