So after Steam updated my game to 1.04, I was completely unable to start the game. I posted a support post in this forum and received advice to reinstall the game (which I already had done), and then to update my video driver (which I have since done). I am now able to play the game but only very intermittently: I have started the game 14 times since then and only twice have I actually entered the game proper (and one of those crashed after about a week in game time).

This is bordering on absurd. I am basically unable to play a game (which I very much enjoy) due to a recent, poorly tested patch which has broken it. I am not the only one with this problem, in fact it seems pretty prevalent among other players on this forum.

What (if anything) is being done to address this problem? Are us Steam users stuck being unable to play?

I also think it's worrying that this particular subforum (tech support) is only available to people who have registered the game. It feels to me like Paradox Interactive are actively trying to hide the fact that this game is suffering from serious bugs.

Have you tried the hotfix at the top of this subforum?

What graphics card do you have?

All paradox games are hidden from non-registered members as a form of copy-protection. Won't comment on whether I find it right or now, just letting you know why.

Are you under the impression this is only been so since 1.04, and/or only for CK2? Because neither is the case, ALL Paradox games since they removed DRM require registration to get Technical Support (eg EU3 which is like 5 years old). They, quite rightly, don't want to support people who pirate their (now unprotected) games.
