Converting CK saves to DV

Reviving the Collage of Caardinals aar (see sig) and curious about my ability to make it DV-accessible.

From trial and error, I've figured out that at the very least you need to

• edit the crusade line to remove excess parameters &
• move the morale line from the regiments to the units in the country list

But there must still be something else: I'm not getting any error messages on load but towards the end of the process it freezes up and isn't able to finish reading the file.

Anyone have any experience with this? or have the question answered in another thread?

Actually a savegame should load even without those edits, provided that you check all tags exist in DV (which ought to be the case if your CK game is from 1.05+IP2), and that all dynasties exist (which should also be the case).
I was able to rebuild the 1204 scenario by loading the scenario in CK 1.05, saving it, and using that save in DV.

Things you will need to edit are the three remapped traits 'realm duress', 'parental education', and 'rebellious'.

But it didn't - it freaked about the extraneous info in the crusade line and didn't know what to do about the morale...

It is.

Using a modded file, but it works for the game in CK 105ip2 so that shouldn't be the problem, right?

But that wouldn't cause it not to load - just be a little messy for a few months until all the courtiers realize they can't be rebellious.


edit: n/m. I use multiple copies to keep the aar mods straight and for some reason I had a 1.04a that I'd installed DV onto. Lemme clean up that mess and see what happens.

Well, that's probably why I had an old copy - the 1.04 games don't work with 1.05. But it wasn't about having lost it - just trying to make it accessible to other players who might only have DV on their machines now.
