I was playing County of Holland this week. After having conquered sufficient parts of north-west Europe I got the event : would you like to be Republic of the Netherlands. I off course said yes, but then in 1815 I didn't get an event to become the United Kingdom of the Netherlands. I mean I really would like to get those cores for those remaining 4 years. :)

Would only be logical right?

That the Netherlands became a kingdom and got Belgium and Luxemburg was not due to actions of its own but because after the Napoleontic wars the major powers thought it would be good to have a "big" power to the north of France. So you would only be able to create the Kingdom of the Netherlands if Napoleon was defeated, which will probably never happen in a game that starts in 1419

I agree your historical argument is correct.

The problem is the become-the Dutch-republic event wasn't historically correct either. I mean the Dutch Republic formed out of resistance against Habsburg rule.

In my game starting in 1419, (Burgundy was defeated relatively early) no low country province ever was ruled by the Habsburgions. So this takes away the mean reason for the Dutch Republic to be formed historically.

So if historic accuracy was the reason for not having an United Kingdom of The Netherlands event, than I shouldn't have gotten, the Dutch Republic event either. Or am I mistaken now?

I have the pleasure to announce that EEP 1.42 will feature several nice new events for the Netherlands, including some funny political crisis, revolution and of course the United Kingdom of the Netherlands (that you can become if you defeat Nappy) :)

That is indeed exciting news. Thanks everyone from the EEP.

BTW I have asked this question before but shouldn't there be made a mod for bridging the temporarily time gap between eu2 and Victoria?

But Dutch cores on Belgium make much less sense than Spanish cores on Belgium (Spain had a much easier time ruling Belgium). We don't give the cores to Spain, why should the Netherlands get them?

Spain gets cores on Belgium, Isaac. What let you assume the opposite?

Well actually it was more that I wanted it rather badly. :D

But seriously, why should I get a become-Dutch-republic event out of the blue and not get a become-the-United Kingdom-of-the-Netherlands event?

It is both yes or both no (at least in the situation in my game, see above)

BTW: I don't know how this is arranged, but in my situation Spain should NOT get cores on any Low Countries provinces, because they were taken from Burgundy before it got involved with Spain.
