Hey all, I recently bought HoI and am really enjoying it! One thing I really like are the events, and I have heard some talk about CORE as being a great mod if you like that sort of things. I checked out the forum a little bit, but I have a (very) noobish question - which is, erm, if I install CORE can I still play vanilla 1.05 HoI? Doubtless I won't want to, but I am wondering how it works - can I make 2 seperate files for HoI and HoI(Core), or should I stop foolishly worrying and just install? Thanks!

When you install C.O.R.E you can still play a vanilla game of HOI. You'll just get a different desktop shortcut you can use to play with the C.O.R.E modifications.

It's very useful because it lets me play MP Vanilla, and SP C.O.R.E to my hearts content :D

When additional patches are released by Paradox then do not install them over C.O.R.E. but instead keep an eye on the various places where we announce new releases and pretty soon you'll find a C.O.R.E. patch which includes any bugfixes.

The only exception is the full version patches (ie if 1.06 comes out) in which case you will probably need to uninstall and reinstall.
 
Well, as discussed in the C.O.R.E. forum you are only in summer 1939 and the Winter War does not occur until 13th of November 1939 at the earliest. The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact occurs on the 23rd of August 1939. About the Purge events, it is four separate events.

In other words, play on :)

Then it might be a good idead (playing Soviet) to be finished with invasions in the far east before those dates. My first problem was nationalists annexing communist China early on. Since I play a communist, I wanted to liberate them... It takes months just to move in there. So my game might be kinda fubar now. :p
