In an attempt to keep y'all satisfied, here is another update...

There was a small delay while we have reconfigured to operate with out the forum or the wiki. With those problems solved, we are back on track, but still suffering from slower communications due to improvised solutions.

Most of the inc files have been finished. Right now they are being reviewed for continuity and final work is being done for some of the major countries which require more reworking than the minor nations.

Construction of an installer has started and should be completed by early next week for internal testing.

Although we are a little behind our Halloween goal due to the loss of the wiki, things are still proceeding forward at a reasonable rate. Hopefully, a public release will still occur sometime around Halloween.

We are starting to look for mirror sites for CORE2 downloads. If you are willing to provide a mirror site, let us know.

Thank you for your patience and I hope that this helps with the CORE-less void in your life. :D MDow

The initial file shouldn't be all that large, depending on what all we get incorporated. It will be the later releases, with all the new events, and graphics. The graphics may have to be a separate download, for size considerations.

I don't know how big the installer will be itself, but having done a rough calculation of incomplete files and using only the bare minimum graphics (tech backgrounds and generic model images, but no tech images nor any nation-specific graphics) I estimate it'll be around 6-8 MB. Could certainly be more or less, but I'm not sure.

With that size in mind I think I can actually host it myself, but mirrors are good.

Hi

If you need a tempory Mirror in Australia I am just about to set a small website with a new ISP in which the site has no download limts (not sure how fast it is ) and if need be I can host a forum as well.

I can provide a mirror site in the U.S.

I've got a 3x2 meter large mirror right here in my room - you can use it if you want to. Moving might prove to be tricky, though.
NICE :D

Thank you for the update with a timeframe! Sweet..........

Regarding mirrors, have you looked at submitting to the major mod/patch download sites (FilePlanet, FileFront, etc.)? For some reason I never see any Paradox modders using those sites for downloads. All other games seem to use one or more of them for most mods.

Probably because for some of them its a crappy download, whre you have to wait ages, and its slow when compared to other places.

But the alternative is no download at all when the primary site goes down and huge bandwidth usage when a new 30MB+ version is released. I usually get several hundred Kbytes/sec download speeds from many of those sites (with free access). I avoid fileplanet when possible but the other sites are normally fine with very little waiting in line. AFAIK it doesn't cost anything to upload files since they are presumably ad-supported.

There was a reason we didn't do that with CORE1, and I can't remember what it was now. But I do recall it being brought up, and there being some sort of make or break issue. Maybe one of the other people involved in that conversation can recall what it was.
