Corrupt Installation File error at 26% installed

1. I am using Victoria, Strategy First, version Orgional CD program.. Purchased in Canada.

2. Operating system (WinXP Prof Ed - Build 5.1.2600 service Pack 1 build 2600) .

3. Computer Make, Model, CPU & speed
IBM T20 thinkpad Laptop/ Intel PIII 700MHz
Memory (RAM - 384MB
6.01Gb free on my HDD out of 11.2 Gb
S3 Graphics Savage IX 1014/ driver v6.13.10.7050 and 8Mb Video RAM – used to drive both the laptop monitor and an standard 17 VGA monitor.
Crystal SoundFusion w/ driver v5.01.2501.0000
DirectX Version Installed
Example: DirectX v8.1 (4.08.01.0810)


I've read the *before you post* note and did everything in the do it yourself list... I've also read through several other threads for possible solutions. Problem is I get and Corrupted Installation file error message when I get to 26% installed.. ( submarine graphic file).

Yes I've tried copying the disk to the hard-drive and installing from there but I get an redundant copy error when trying to copy the Setup.exe file. and the copy fails.

Yes I tried to change the international settings to UK with no effect to either the install from disk or copying the file to the computer.

Please do you have any other ideas??? the installation worked fine on this same machine when I bought the game... only thing that has changed is that I've upgraded the computer to Windows XP from Windows 2000. and foolishly uninstalled my games before making the OS upgrade... I tried re-installing Win XP with no better luck...

any ideas???
 
Sounds like an install shield issue.
If you have more than one drive that can read a CD then try that.
 
Also,
Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.

If you cannot get it to go then,
Please run a DirectX Diagnostic:
Start menu –Run - then type Dxdiag, then select each tab across the top of the window, and run the tests on each tab. Then select “Save All Information” button in the lower right of the window. This will bring up a dialog box to allow you to select a name for the file where the information will be saved. You can save it right on the desktop as this will make it easy to find. Then copy the contents of that file from the start to the heading that says “DirectX components” then paste what you have copied into a post in this thread.

still no luck. the copy file appears to get stuck at the same point.. about 25% into the file transfer.

the installer gets stuck on ..#Units#bmp#t-submarine a-stand C-Min.bmp
when I try to copy the setup file to disk i get a message cycilical redundacy check.. file cannot be copied.

Okay first thing is to update all your drivers they are out of date.

1) Update operating system.
2) Make sure when doing that you get Dx9.0b or higher as required to run the game anyway.
3) make sure you have Admin rights on the account you are trying to install the game with.
4) Update Video driver
5) Update sound driver.
6) See if there is an update for your CD driver

Looks like you have taken info out of the file you posted here so I cannot answer the rest for you.
 
thanks.. I've done as much as I can to upgrade.

I'm thinking the problem is with the DVD drive. I'm noticing now that I've had it for a few days I'm actually have problems reading most data CD's... the drive seems to freeze up quite frequently but at random... I'll see what I can do to get the DVD drive working.
 
Some of the info you decided to take out of the file you sent was on the Drives so I cannot help you there.

Maybe rerun the Dxdiag and the tests now that you have updated your drivers and post the new file.
