I've ran into a very frustrating problem while playing CiM on my desktop PC. Ever since I started playing again after downloading the US Cities DLC, the normal sky texture of blue sky and clouds has been replaced with a multicolored selection of garbage characters. It's very weird. Not only is the sky messed up but all the reflective surfaces in the game are reflecting back these weird characters (usually in pink, yellow and green). It's very distracting! I'm running the same version of CiM on my laptop with no problems at all but the laptop doesn't really have the horsepower to run the game properly.
I've been through all of the normal troubleshooting steps. I have deleted the local content of the game (it's the Steam version) and redownloaded it several times. I've removed all mods. I've deleted the CiM folder under documents and settings. I've made sure the video drivers (ATI Radeon) are up to date. I've played with the graphics settings. The desktop PC is running Windows XP and I never had a problem with the game until this week. Has anybody else come across this issue? I have not found any similar threads on other CiM forums. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
