Well a county of Germany, the name I forget, revolted and attacked Germany. Germany immediatly asks for my help and I grant it. Well apparently the county never quit from being under the Duke of Provence so Provence attacked me leading to Germany attacking me. I am using 1.05.

Was the count a count of the Duchy of Provence or from Germany directly before revolting?

Immediate Liege was the Duke of Provence. Then the King of Germany. But how can that happen?

1. The count rebels against his liege, the duke of Provence, and declares war on him
2. The liege of the duke of Provence, the king of Germany, Burgundy and Italy comes to the aid of his vassal (the duke of Provence)
3. The king of Germany asks his ally, you the player for help
4. The count, who is independent offers his vassalage to the king of Germany, Burgundy and Italy
5. The king accepts this offer
6. You declare war on the count
7. The count is a vassal of the king of Germany now
8. The liege of the count, the king of Germany, comes to the aid of his vassal and declares war on you

It is sort of a bug :)

Always check first who you are declaring war to, never go into a war when an ally has to deal with a revolting vassal or sub-vassal

It was the same day as the vassal attacking. And the vassal was not a vassal of Germany. He was still a vassal of the Duke of Provence but not of Germany. He was still fighting Germany. The Duke of Provence though attacked me for attacking his vassal then the King of Germany attacked me.

Then the first guy was a vassal of Germany first, rebelled against Germany and then became a vassal of Provence, you declared war on him. Provence came to his and and so did the king of Germany.

Never interfere in the rebellions of your allies.
