Eranshahr's flag should be changed to the historical flag of the Sassanid Empire.
Drafsh e Kavian was irrevocably tied to the concept of Eranshahr and hence with the concept of Iranian nationhood .
Currently, a country called Mazandaran uses this flag, it should be changed to another flag.
Mazandaran represents the Mar'ashis dynasty that rules the city of Amol, so let the city's flag be the flag of this country.

When I saw Pravus's Eranshahr playthrough video I noticed this too!

I understand why PDX went this route because really, this Eranshahr we form in 1444+ is a not a 1-to-1 copy of the previous Sasanian Empire or the Achaemenid Empire. It is a revitalized Zoroastrian Empire - you can see it making sense that they would combine the standards and colors of previous Persian Zoroastrian Empires in order to make a flag unique to their new, reforged empire. Granted, at first I was a little put off by this because a Shahbaz falcon with a purple standard background is combining different styles, colors, and symbols from different eras of Iranian history.

The Shahbaz falcon that PDX used for Eranshahr's flag can be traced to the Achaemenid Empire; it is the standard of Cyrus's and his descendants until the empire's conquest by Alexander.
In the game, they have a yellow Shahbaz in a purple field background (very similar style to Derafsh Kaviani: yellow lily in a purple field).

I can see why someone would prefer the Derafsh Kaviani and I wouldn't mind going that route either. I like both routes equally. I'm just glad they didn't do the Asiatic lion with a purple background - I've seen some mods with that variant and it looks ridiculous IMO.

Werent they using the sassasnid flag in the dev diary?
In the dev diary Zoroastrian Persia seemed to be using the Safavid flag, but that was back when it was Persia with a name+colour change, rather than a seperate tag.

Wasnt it name + colour + flag change + idea change then?
Practically everything but tag change so it could still use persian missions and events
Well, it wasn't a flag change, since the flag didn't change.

Exactly this, yeah. We discussed the different possibilities, taking into account that Mazandaran starts with a flag akin to the Sasanian one. We finally decided to mix up the Achaemenid and Sasanian traditions, as we thought the narrative for a reforged Zoroastrian Persia would be based upon both.

In the Dev Diary, there were some custom changes for a Zoroastrian Persia. After the feedback we received, we decided to create a fully-fledged new tag, Eranshahr, to portray it instead.

Could we get a clear picture of the flag, for the record?

I'm honestly surprised Pdx didn't decide to try and make dynamic flags a thing with this update - since we already have name and colour changes it'd have made a perfect trifecta and you could potentially choose the flag for Zoroastrian Iran and also have all the different flag options for the different Iranian dynasties in the game period without making more tags.

Does Eranshahr being a seperate tag mean you can't earn Shahanshah and This is Persia with it?
Good call, there is an issue regarding this indeed, but we're now fixing it for 1.36.1.
