Crash and lockup upon exit

I haven't been around these forum before, so I don't know whether this is a common problem or if it's even been mentioned but anyway here it goes: On of the numerous bugs I've noticed upon playing the game is that everytime I try to click "exit" on the main screen, the game will just lock up for about 10 seconds, and after that it'll go back to windows. However no matter what I do after that the machine will just lock up in some 15-20 sec. Even if I try to shut down or restart, the computer will crash. My system never does anything like this otherwise. I also believe that this problem didn't occur until I installed the 1.09 patch. I have recently formatted my harddrive and installing EU again didn't make any difference. And yes, I've been trying to run the game with the "no music" option (not that I get any music anyway otherwise, and yes again I have connected my cd audio cable to the sound card and I can play audio cds and get sound from every other game).

So, is there any chance that this (very) annoying problem will be corrected in the upcoming patch?

Hmmmm this is an old problem that still occurs with me too!

I find that if I go and make a cup of coffee when the 2nd lock up occurs then by the time I get back it has unfrozen again.

I do not know why it happens - I have never got a satisfactory answer - but it happened before the patches with me too.

Try leaving it for 10 minutes or so (dont even move the mouse) and see if it unfreezes.

Sorry but as yet I know of no work a round

Thanks for the feedback. Glad ir works.
I dont know why it happens and I am puzzled because there is no HDD activity.
Its difficult to find out as any movement of the mouse or touch of the keyboard "freezes" the system requiring a reboot and scandisk.
Anyway - a cup of coffee is good for protecting against heart disease!
