Newly installed EIC crashes with a "eastindia.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Windows error. I have applied the 1.06 patches. Also updated nvidia drivers.

The nvidia sys info shows:

Any ideas??

Thanks

Have you tested the solutions described in the Troubleshooting sticky? It could be a Windows Data Execution problem and a fix for it can be found in the sticky. Remember to reboot your computer after changing the DEP settings.

The newest Nvidia driver seems to fudge up a lot of things. Try to roll bakc the driver (uninstall current driver, install pervious edition of driver)

Thanks - I originally was using a one year old NVIDIA driver, then installed latest when I had this problem. On your advice, I did a full uninstall, ran NVIDIA cleanup S/W, and then installed previous driver version. All 3 config's produce the same crash described above.

I was also running my CPU overclocked (std=2.5Ghz, I was running at 3 Ghz, stable). I reset this back to standard, default settings on all fronts - RAM, CPU and GPU. No difference in error.

When I read this section/fix previously, it looked at first glance like it only applied to VISTA. I see now it does apply to XP (I'd forgotten about the DEP stuff in XP). I made the changes to the DEP settings recommended - no change in the error.

So I am still nowhere in resolving this.
