crash trying to load save

My ck2, steam version crashes instantly when I click the saved games tab. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, deleting all saves..starting a new game and then saving, can't reload that save . Updated to latest patch. No mods. plain vanilla. please help I really enjoy this game, (over 600 hours played) .

Assuming you have the right version and checksum, most likely you have a bad saved game. Move all saved games out, then you can move them back in one by one to see which are corrupt.

If you read the OP, he already deleted all save games and reinstalled .

I have a similar issue, except the game doesn't crash, it just freezes. After clicking on a savegame, the little rotating hourglass goes on forever until I end the process in task manager. This happens no matter what savegame I choose, and I already tried removing them all and trying a few individually. It seems impossible that multiple savegames could be corrupted at once.

I saw that, but I kinda doubted he really deleted every save, just ones he didn't want.

The only cause I'm aware of for corrupt saves is running out of disk space, and that would indeed corrupt every save from that point on. But regardless it's problably worth doing a full clean reinstall.

If this is Steam: uninstall the game from Steam and move any valued save games elsewhere. Manually delete the CK2 directories from under the Steam AND MyDocuments folders, now reinstall the game via Steam.

If GamersGate: Move valued save games elsewhere, and uninstall the game. Manually delete the CK2 directories from where GG put them and from MyDocuments. Reinstall the game , download 1.05d patch again and apply it.
