Whenever I install Armageddon on my PC it causes the system to crash.

When Armageddon 1.0 is installed the game crashes when I try load Doomsday without even getting to a loading screen.

I also installed Patch 1.1. Whilst this at least allowed me to load the game, whenever I click on a country and try to play, the loading screen gets to about halfway through then crashes.

I've tried it when using Doomsday on its own and it works fine, its only when I try it with Armageddon installed. I've also un-installed and re-installed, re-downloading gamersgate, shutting down and re-starting etc etc.

Anyone had similar problems or have an idea about what might be causing this?

Corrupt Arma download.

Question -- do you have Vista?

Corey

No, It's XP.

I have re-downloaded gamersgate twice as well as saving the armageddon files onto my computer twice also. If there is a corrupt file I'm not sure how I would get around this.

More Questions....

You are installing Arma on top of the Doomsday folder right?

You do have full administrator rights on your machine? If not make sure you do before you proceed.

Otherwise try this....

1. Uninstall HOI2 Arma using the uninstaller in Add/remove programs.
2. Uninstall HOI2 DD
3. Follow the instructions in the thread marked How to Manually uninstall HOI2 specifically about Registry settings etc.
4. Physically remove any folder you find related to HOI2. Remove all desktop icons etc....
5. Reinstall HOI2 DD. Install it in a different folder than the default directory... try C:\games
6. Install the 1.3a patch found here.....

http://www.paradoxplaza.com/downloads/dd_13a.exe

7. Run the game.... if it crashes go no further and come back here.

8. Remove the Gamersgate installer via Add/remove programs.
9. Remove any temp download folder that Gamersgate was using.
10. Download the latest version of the Gamersgate installer from the website... make sure you install the correct one... You probably have 32 bit XP so download that one.
11. Run the Gamersgate program from the start menu. Download Arma... Run the install and make sure it sees the folder you installed DD in (c:\games)
12. Install the 1.1 patch for Arma found here.

http://www.gamersgate.com/patches/HoI2DDArmageddonPatch1_1.exe

Make sure it sees the folder where DD was installed.

In this case you will have 2 icons on your desktop but both will make Arma run.

If you need to be able to run both independantly you will have to copy the HOI2 DD folder to another location after step 6.

I'm experiencing the same issue as eternal_empire

I have tried the following steps below several times but Im still having the same issue as eternal_empire. It stops halfway loading any scenario and crashes. Hoi2 DD 1.3a works fine but when I apply the Arma add on and patch the issue occurs. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Try the steps again but this time do not apply the 1.1 Arma patch.

See if Arma works without the patch.....

Receiving critical error

I tried installing only the Arma 1.0a patch to a vanilla Hoi2 1.3a install but when I try to launch the application I receive a criticla error:
Couldn't open file: \db\units\brigades\naval_asw.txt

I went into the above directory and didn't see that file. Is the Arma patch missing something?

Georgie,

Arma is an add on pack that you have to buy .... did you buy it?

If not then you cannot apply the patch.... you will need to stick with the 1.3a patch.

Corey

Arma patch

Yes, I bought it from Gamersgate. I used the 32 bit downloader from that website and saved the 1.0a arma patch to my doomsday location. I have also tried saving the Arma 1.0 add on to my desktop and then just coying those files to my DD directory. but same result.

Did you click on the install button on the gamersgate downloader after it was finished downloading?

There is no install button

I ddin't see any install buttons. I just saw Configure and Download. I clicked on Configure to specify the path of the download and then downloaded the arma 1.0a patch to that location. then it prompted me to run the downloaded files and the installation proceeded.

Also, I've tried installing the patch on its own and I don't see that naval_asw.txt file it was looking for.

I dont believe Im doing anything wrong on the install. Do you have any other ideas?

Once it has downloaded off of Gamersgate there should be an install button. If not then you never installed Arma.

Try to reopen the Gamersgate installer from the Start menu.

Select Arma from the list and see if you now see an install button.... if you do click on it and install Arma.

Then once Arma is installed then reapply the Arma 1.1 ONLY patch.

Gamersgate works this way.

1. You CONFIGURE a download directory for the setup files for Arma.
2. You DOWNLOAD to the CONFIGURED directroy.
3. Once done the installer is supposed to add a button that says INSTALL. If it doesnt' (and it does this sometimes) the answer is to shut down the gamersgate installer and reopen it.... select Arma again in the list and then the INSTALL button appears again.

Corey

It worked now...

Thanks Corey,

I got it to work. I followed your last instuctions and the install began. The Bamersgate downloader is kinda confusing. Anyways, thanks for all the support.
