I am having issues with EU2 crashing to desktop obviously and I have read a lot on the support board and have done all of it.

AVI folder renamed, (DONE)
Sound turned off (DONE)
Direct X updated (DONE)
Update video Drivers (DONE)

Funny thing is I didn’t have any of these issue before I updated to 1.07 I did read about someone had a corrupt .exe file from the patch and I guess I’ll try that but I’m looking for anything else I can try. I really want to play the game but it is frustrating when you forget to save and you are far from the auto save.

Thanks in advance for your help

Is this a new game you started under 1.07, or is this a game started under an earlier version that you are rying to continue under 1.07?

Uninstall EU2 entirely (moving your saves elsewhere first), defrag your hard disk, then reinstall it, and install 1.07 immediately.

have you added any new hardware or software recently? I know that sometimes that can have an effect on other programs....I know of one person who had issues with MP due to another program and had to remove it to play MP successfully for a brief amount of time.

That often? Definitely something wrong with your setup then.

What OS? What SP? Which directx, and video driver versions? What CPU, how much RAM?

Does it happen on any particular screen or action in the game?

Have you tried starting a new game as a different country?

This is a Toshiba Laptop and I have always had strange issue with the video card but here are the stats

Toshiba 9100
1GB RAM
100GB hard drive 67% free space
Video S3 Graphics SuperSavage/IXC 1179
Driver date is 2/6/2002 Driver Version 6.13.1256
Running XP SP 1 with all the latest SP's and releases.

running the game under win98 mode does not help.

And the only thing that has changed from the game crashing to not crashing was the install of the 1.07 patch. no luck. I removed all my extra hardware (only the wireless card) but everything else is built into the laptop

Are you sure June 2002 is the latest driver?

And what about my first question?

that is the latest driver I can find yes. S3 site, Toshiba, Microsft all the same.

No, it does not crash at the same place every time (that I can see) unless some event happens and it crashes so I can't see it but I did notice it crashes in January since I have auto save on and I never have to really go back to far, but that does not help I know.

Yes, other senarios, Countries, it does not help, same thing.

Another Question I posted on HoI site was does that game have the same issues as this one? I am in BAD need of a new strategy game but I just don't want to pay the money and have that one not work too. P.S. I would love to be a beta tester if you want. I'm a Lab tech so I support, Servers, Desktops, software, hardware and networks, I've seen it all. let me know what else I can do.

Thanks

Update to the latest beta patch, Try different resolutions, try reducing your Video acceleration.

As for being a beta, Well everyone is a beta now for EU2, for the other games, watch their forums for announcements. I know Victoria will be taking on some more Betas for game balance, maybe in or around October.

See my responce in the HOI forum for your HOI question.

Also What directX version are you running, and have you run a Diagnostic for it?

Latest Direct X 9.0B and yes it tests out.

I did find another video Driver. it's 11/02 so still out of date in my opinion but I'll give it a shot. I'll try it tonight post tomorrow. My E-mail address is on your private messages. otherwise the message boards are fine too for communication

Great, Also don't forget about the other things.
"Update to the latest beta patch, Try different resolutions, try reducing your Video acceleration."

Issues (GONE)

Looks like the video driver resolved the issue. when I first tried it all the icons were half the size they should have been with Black boxes below, I changed the resolution to a higher setting and they went away.

Thanks for your help. I have to hand it to your support structure, I don't think I have seen any other company support there software like you have. Nice Job and I really appreciate it!!

You are most welcome!
Glad you are back in action!
