Crashes to Desktop...

never been able to run this game...crashes to desktop after trying to start scenario...

the machine I'm trying to run this on is a Compaq 2145US Laptop...

mobile AthlonXP 2400+ (Barton Core)
ATi U1 Mobility Radeon Graphics (64MB Dedicated System Memory to Graphics)
1GB PC2700 DDR RAM
60GB Hitachi 7200RPM 8MB Cache HDD
CDRW/DVD Combo Drive
M$ WindowsXP Pro

what gives???...don't have any other issues with this machine and DirectX 8.1 Compliant games...nor problems with apps...only this game...

First thing to try is to rename the AVI folder to AVI_back.
This will disable the BINK player and skip the intro videos, Bink has been known to cause some problems by remaining in memory.

Hmmm.....I have the same problem on my laptop, also running XP.
I would be happy to hear some sugestions on how to fx the problem.

Well try the AVI rename, But how could you know you are having keyboard problems you mentioned in the other thread, if you have never been able to get past the scenario selection screen as JQP is experianceing?

I had no crashes on the original version of the game, after I installed the patch the crash began to appear perhaps 80% of the time I tried to start the game.

In time I managed to solve both problems. Thanks for the repies though.

I made a full install on my computer, something I had not done before and also tried the avi rename, something I found in another thread.

As for the keys I experimented with my keyboard and found a kombination working wih the fn key.

Ah yes, saw that post, but the AVI rename was suggested above. It is almost always my first suggestion.
