I just bought Hearts of Iron. I loaded it and got and installed the most recent patch. I am using Windows XP as my operating system. I found the reference in the manual that it was good to turn off ‘Blinkplay.exe’ . Unfortunately when I tried this it was not running in any case. Now for my problem, I have the game on pause. It seems to crash when I try to share research, or click on the diplomacy button. It may just be a coincidence that it crashed when I clicked on these buttons, but it happened more then once. The game looks like a good game. To bad it is not turn based, so some friends of mine could play it via email. But that is neither here nor there!

Thank you in advance for your help in this matter!

Keep on gaming
John

P/S Yes it seems if I want to turn the game off all I have to do is hit the Diplomacy button! It shuts the game down really fast! LOL

To turn off the Bink player, you need to rename your AVI folder to AVI_back.

There is also an XP update you should get that helps as well.

Not Playable

I tried this:

Also I tried turning off Blinkplay.exe per the instruction manual. Except when I bring up ‘Applications’ Blinkplay.exe is not running any where. Neither in ‘Processes’ or ‘Applications’.

Now granted clicking on the Diplomacy Screen Button shuts the game down to the desktop Right Now. It is Not want I want to do. I would like to play the game! Any suggestions anyone?

The game as it is, cannot be played. Unless I am doing something consistently wrong. I think the game is really nice, but I would like it to work!

Please keep your posts in the thread you started, do not start new threads on the same topic.
I will merge them.

Bink player will not show up because renaming the AVI floder disables it.

Please ensure that you have the latest drivers for your video and audio cards, then post your complete system specs incuding the driver versions that you are using and the publisher and patch you are useing.

Can you confirm that you renamed the avi folder to avi_old please. If so, the binkplayer will be disabled so it won't show in your processes list.
