I am getting increasingly frustrated with the game crashing. Don't know if this happens to you, but the game randomly will "shut off" immediately closing the window, never to be seen again. Happens ALOT playins as USA.

Last night I had invaded Spain (who had joined the Allies and was quickly overrun by the Germans) from the Gibraltar area as the US, made several landings in Italy and the Netherlands, coupled with a thrust south from Finland............in spring!

I had managed to entrap the bulk of the Germany Army in the Alps, battered and probably out of supply! Were talking 50+ in 4 zones completely surrounded.

BOOM! GODDAMN game shuts off! I hadn't saved since the exact day before the invasion was set.

WHAT THE HELL!!!!

Also this should be in the bug or support forums. (Bug forum if crash always happens on same date or when a certain action happens.)

Standard support forum questions: what OS version, DirectX version, processor, memory, video card?

Try renaming avi folder to stop the intro video player from loading.

ME
pentium 3 833
512K mem
NVIDIA GeForce2
not sure what directX, but its at least 9 something i believe

If you have DirectX 9 make sure it has the latest updates (I believe 9.0b).

WinME with 512MB could be the problem (but try some of the other solutions first). Copied from a post of mine in another thread:

Are you sure you have 512MB? That could be the problem. Win98 & WinME need some tweaking to handle that much properly. I believe you need to add to your system.ini file:

[Vcache]
MaxFileCache=65,536

The largest value you should use is 524,288 even if you have 1-2GB RAM.

See here for more info.

First things to try.
1) Rename AVI folder to AVI_back.
2) Set color depth to 16BIT.
3) Turn off the Anti Virus, and anything else running in the background.
