Apologies if this is a duplicate thread - I only looked on the first couple of pages and didn't see anything that looked similar. Just wanted to report that, for me at least, the game has crashed at 81% loaded every time I have tried to run it since the patch. I'm playing on a 27" retina iMac, running Yosemite. All drivers etc are up to date, and I've tried all the suggested tips - restarted Steam, verified cache, deleted my Stellaris documents folder, and finally did a complete uninstall and reinstall, but the problem hasn't gone and the game won't load.

I finally tried rolling back to 1.0.0, but the same issue stopped the game from starting. It is always at 81% that it quits.

I found a possible fix in the bug thread but won't be able to try until after work, but the trick may be to manually remove the game by deleting it from the steam apps/common folder and then doing a fresh install. Apparently deleting it via steam leaves a number of files behind which may be the cause of the problem.

I'll report back on whether this works but it won't be until later tonight unfortunately.

I have managed to get the game running again.

I deleted local files from Steam and reinstalled, this didn't work and I had the same problem.

I then deleted the local files and the files in the Documents folder. When I went to the Steam folder I noticed there were a few additional files left behind so I deleted the Stellaris folder manually.

I then reinstalled the game and it works!

^^ This is the suggested fix that gives me some hope that I can play the game at the weekend!

I am having the exact same problem as well, will try your solution and report back if it works.

***It worked! The above solution (manually go in and delete the stellaris folder) then reinstall through steam and it is working fine now!!***

I have the same problem, and funnily enough the same specs. How odd.
Alright, I'll try that now! Wish me luck...

Edit: Fix worked.

Have you been poking around the game files? Because opening certain files (00_Prescripted_Species and many of the gfx files for me) will cause this to happen. The best way to avoid it is to just copy the file you want to open, rather than the actual one the game uses.
