Crashing during savegames

I think this may be a corrupted game somehow, since I have played many games before with no problems whatsoever, but in my current game, whenever I try to save it the game immediately crashes to desktop with no error message. The resulting saves are listed in the save game list but can't be played.

I don't have autosaves turned on. When I went back to my 2nd previous saved game (current save is August 14, previous is in late June) the game worked. I guess there's something about that August 14 save it doesn't like, anytime I load that save up, no matter which country I play, I get the crash the next time I try to save it.
