Creating a kingdom has undesired side effects: pope hates me.

Check the pope. He thinks I'm ok.

Then create the kingdom of Italy.

Suddenly the pope hates me. I dig the "desires kingdom of italy" penalty, but the "increased crown authority" penalty is bogus. The kingdom didnt exist before, so my creating it should not piss off the people in the de jure region.

I had this effect before when I created the kingdom of burgundy, as well. the duke of provence got the same modifier.

The actual absurd thing is that creating a Kingdom is pretty much getting authorization from the Pope (which is why you need Piety), so why would he do it if he doesn't want you to be King in the first place?

Create the kingdom of Byzantium and check my Byzantine dukes. They get the "increased crown authority" penalty from me creating that kingdom.
