Critical error messages when loading

I have a technical problem that I need your help with please.

Game Version & Patch: GG Revolutions with official patch
OS: WindowsXP Home
Computer, CPU & speed: Packard Bell Easynote laptop 1.6Ghz intel celeron M
RAM: 1024
Free HDD space: 60gb
DirectX Version: 9.1


The problem is that once the load screen appears critical eror messages appear saying - file not found gfx\palette\pol.bmp, gfx\paletter\black.bmp etc (all in gfx\palette i think). The game then doesn't load.
The frustrating thing is that when I first installed the game on the machine it worked perfectly the first 2 or 3 times I played it. I haven't done any modding to the gfx files, and they're all still there looking in the directory.

Assuming you are starting the game from a shortcut, verify what folder the shortcut is pointing to and that those files exist under that folder. You could have more than one Victoria folder on your computer and one may be incomplete. Make sure you didn't install the patch into a different folder from the game.

Just the one victoria folder on the machine, with the patch in the right place.
The supposedly 'missing' files are all under gfx\map which i assume is where theyre supposed to be.

Do you have the download version of VR? If not can you start the game using the cd? If you can, your shortcut is not working. Try and make a new shortcut.

If this is not working, I will recommend that you reinstall. Take a backup of your save files and save them a safe place. Read how to uninstall Vicky Remember to remove VR too.

They should be wherever the error messages say they are looking for them. For the files in your original post, those should not be in gfx\map but in gfx\palette.
