when i try to load or startup a new game i just gets a critical error message that says:
couldnt open file: db\events\dutch revolts.txt
i tried to solve this by reinstalling the game but that didnt help.
any idea what may be causing this?

have you installed any mods?
what patch are you on?
What publisher version of the game do you have, their logo will be on the CD.

Can you open that file in Word pad?

Yes, as there's no such file in the standard game :)
 
I wanted to see what his answer would be. ;)
