First a couple of notes:
-this is my first AAR, so i'll write it as a report - i see everybody is making a story out of their AAR's but i'm not creative enough to do that (i don't have to, right?)
-playing DV for the first time, but I've read about some of the new things on this forum
-edited the 1066 scenario file and gave away the province "Krizevci", according to its geographic position it should be called Sriem; new owner: King of Hungary
-gave away "Rama", Petar Kresimir didn't control lands so far to the east; new owner: Count of Rashka and Hum ( Hum and Zachumlia are the same thing, btw :D, "Zachumlia" should be Croatia Proper/Royal Croatia )
-count of Rioja has a new liege - King of Aragon (i play on Hard/Furious so Aragon never lives more than 5 years, which is...dumb) - I decided this will be the only modification of non-Croatian territories

I always start by declaring war on someone, but now I'm a bit worried because of this stability thing. Who knows how that works. My usual way of playing may be suicidal. Oh well...que sera sera.

On vanilla, the Pechenegs would always be my first victim, but now i see Sicily is divided in DV. I'm tempted.......going for it!
War declared on all 3 emirates/sheikhdoms before any of them has a strong ally, like Egypt or Tunis.

Married Stjepan (my bishop) with a girl from Norway (Rannveig) with 11 stewardship. Now all my advisors have 10 or 11. :)

Asked Hungary and Byzantium for alliance, got rejected, rejected the Normans (because of Sicily, so they don't get there first), asked Poland and Kiev, but then Byzantium made an offer (never happened to me before...didn't play that much though).
BTW, my new allies got attacked by the Seljuks at the very beginning of the game.

Brought all my armies (4000 men) to Zara and decided to wait and see if someone's going to attack me. Palermo is coming - 2000 men strong. The battle didn't last long - the infidels were thrown back to sea. In the meantime the Queen got mad at the King. I decide paying 150g is too much to stop her from becoming the King's rival - she's too old to get pregnant anyway.

After 2 more months, i'm setting off for Palermo.
Met almost no resistance. Annexed Trapani, emirate of Palermo and now i'm sieging Syracuse - didn't even have to fight them as they sent their army to Split. My 3500 will finish the siege before their 1000 do, so no worries. I'm annexing everything because Petar Kresimir is allowed to have as much as 10 provinces in his personal demesne.

Rashka accepted my vassalisation offer. Toscana, Lombardy, Bologna, Pisa and Catalonia keep rejecting.
Rashka mobilised, i'm planning to use the war between either Badajoz and Seville (Badajoz had previously annexed Cordoba) or Egypt and Tripoli/Jerusalem/Medina.

But then came a message from the pope - an offer for a crusade (target Tunis).
I decide to pay for the crusade to get 150 prestige more than i would normally get - i need 900 to grab the title of Magistrate of Venice - and the trait "crusader".
current status: 650 prestige, -1200g

During my campaign in Sicily Venice vassalized Ragusa and conquered Mecklenburg (!), England vassalized Brittany, lost Northumbria and won a war against Normans (but gained nothing).
Germany conquered the rebel provinces of Lombardy (and through them Salerno too...too bad, i wanted that...), Genova and now they're fighting Toscana. Castille vassalized Ireland. Cumans conquered most of the Volga Bulgar lands but now they are loing a war with Chernigov.
And the border between the Seljuks and Byzantium remained more or less the same.

The conquest of Sicily is completed, reinforcements from Rashka are here - i'm ready to declare war on Zirid. New armies raised from the newly conquered territories on Sicily.

Noblety wishes to help me by sending 2500 extra troops, but i'm taking gold instead - i already have 10,000 men which is more than enough for Zirid. Got only 300g, hoped for 1000g. 50 prestige is nice, geting closer and closer to 900.
Now the burghers are offering the same - i'm taking gold again, but this time i'm lucky - 900g.

Their armies left Africa so i didn't have to fight. So, it's the same as with Sicily - sieging competition.
I divided my armies to occupy all the territories (Zirid and their vassals) a bit quicker, but now their
armies are returning and i only occupied three royal provinces. I'm begging for peace, since i want to end this ASAP - i already have the target province of the crusade and i'm losing too much gold.
They accept.
And i get huge amount of piety and prestige (first time i ever went on crusade).

My finances are suffering heavily - nevertheless i'm setting off for Egypt.
They won't be in war with Palmyra, Jerusalem and Medina forever. At least not all of them.
Again no battles, took 4 provinces (Alexandria, Cairo + corridor :) ), and now their sending an army back from the eastern front. As i occupied all i wanted here, i make peace before they manage to take something back.

After a longer period of almost constant warfare, it's time for peace and prosperity. I'm tired of seeing "-" in front of my budget.

Soon after that (can't remember when exactly :D) Petar Kresimir IV dies. He is beatified. Dmitar Zvonimir (Duke of Slavonia) inherits.

Before he died i spent almost all of his prestige on claiming 2 titles: count of Venice and Livorno.

Dmitar Zvonimir starts his reing by consolidating his realm. Bunch of new titles created, some count titles given away (he has less intrigue than Petar had, only 8). Stjepan was granted the titles of Agrigento, Trapani and Gizeh. Before that, libraries were built for prestige. He has one of the vassals as his rival (back for the time he was a duke) - count of Usora.

Venice declared war on Germany - which is having a terrible time with its vassals in Italy - over the tile of count of Aquilea.
Same strategy all over again - i occupied Ragusa and Venice while they were...who knows where. At the same time my armies from Tunis took Valencia and La Mancha while the Emirate was at war with Castille and Barcelona.

County of Usora proclaimed independence twice, got vassalized, second time Stjepan and count of Usora both got killed during the battle.
Built schools in the provinces i got back from Stjepan, then gave them away again.

In the rest of Europe, Castille vassalized whole of Ireland, Leon vas. Portugal, Aragon annexed Navarre...the muslims are disintegrating in Iberia. Constant warfare in the north of Italy, Normans became vas. of Germany. Byzantium vas. Kiev, Cumans and Pechenegs vs. Chernigov, Hungary, Volga, Pereyaslavl since the beginning of the game, they have no armies left...

Gonna enjoy peace and quiet for some time, and let my lands prosper. +70g per month = lots of building.

PS How do i move my capital (to Palermo)?
I tried editing the save file, but it doesn't seem to work...

The Byzantines spoiled my plans. They had refused Zvonimir's offer for a renewal of the alliance they had with Petar K. and now they declared war on me over the county of Trapani. This is going to cost me a lot of money....

Luckilly, all of my armies recovered by now, and i consolidated my bb/reputation/loyalty of my vassals. Mobilized all my armies. Those in Valencia/La Mancha (busy sieging an isolated sheikdom of Lleida, easy prey) and Mehdia/Bizerte (besieging some Zirid leftovers in Tunis hinterlands) were sent with a delay.
Venezia/Alexandria/Gizeh were sent directly to Constantinople (oh the costs!), Cairo and Buharya (?) were sent to Delta (Egypt backstabbed me). Armies from Croatia and Rashka were sent to Constantinople too, but via Vidin (I wanted that title to be able to proclaim myself King of Serbia). Byzantines sent all their armies to my Egyptian provinces but i ignored him. My 20 000 + armies took Vidin and Constantinople pretty quickly, half of my Sicily armies (rest was fighting the Fatimids) took Thessalonica (i decided to use the opportunity to claim that too), then went to liberate Egypt (while the Byzantines were sailing back to Constantinople). Egyptian provinces were liberated much sooner then they liberated they capital and peace was made.
I got Byzantion, Thessalonica and the Duchy of Vidin. And 3000g of debt...

PS If you occupy all of your enemy's personal demesne, but he occupied some your's, is he considered as being completely defeated? I mean, does he have to accept everything you demand? Didn't think of it before - maybe i sent my armies to liberate Egypt for nothing except spending lotsd of gold for army upkeep....
