I was just wondering when a crusade will end, becauae I have taken the province that the crusade has called for and held it for a while and still nothing....and plus I still lose a buttload of piety every month. This has happened in numerous different games.

Also on a side note, what are the potential great rewards for winning a crusade and controlling the province that was asked?

The event to end the crusade will fire eventually. I think subduing other non-christian provinces in the same area will lower the mtth for the event.

You get piety when you take a province from a heathen during a crusade, more if you have the crusader trait, and the most piety from taking the target province. That, and the usual rewards of war are your only rewards.

As said, it ends by event ... it could end 3 days after the target is taken or 4 years after. The chance of it firing is reduced by each neighbouring province that is in christian hands (doesn't have to be yours).

If you hold the crusade target when the crusade ends, then you get a mighty one-time piety boost.

well controlling the target is not enough to get the pope to call off the crusades. It needs to be part of a christian realm.

I guess the thinking behind making it an event, is that the Pope wants to make sure you can hold it, so he doesn't proclaim the crusade a success the day you conquer it, and then have it fall in a counter attack 4 days later :)

Fighting a crusade

When I finally make the Kingdom of Dumnonii I want to embark on a religious questo to Jerusalem. I have played CK and fought in a crusade before but the crusade itself does not actually end when I get the province. Do I need to right click and tell the Pope to stop or what?

In hindsight I think I let the Muslim ruler rule as my vassel. Was that why it continued? Its just I could not force him to recognise me as the ruler...
