For those who are fighting to start the multiplayer via Game Pass, this worked for me after many tries and settings.
Downlad the Xbox Game Pass App/Software, login and start the game over this software. Make sure to agree the setting asked by the microsoft popup.

yep, that is what i experienced as well and the rason i opened this thread.
