Now from what the FAQ says you go can't take territory without having a claim on it. So what happens to territory that you are crusading in. Say you conquer a chunk of Egypt while crusading. Do you just set it up as an independent kingdom? Does it become a vassal? Do you just trash the place, grab anything not nailed down, shove it in a ship and sail home hoping that you taught the heathens a good lesson?

maybe it'll become an independent Catholic kingdom... short of like a puppet regime? Dunno... Havard! Sergei! We need your help!!!!!

I hope if that is the case you can do something to save it. I would assume it would be in rough shape with all the regions it controls having alien cultures and religions. I wonder if it could even have an army or anything.

Well, you'd have to keep a large Garrison to throw down revolts and defend it from the Other Arab nations...

I would actually hope you could annex the state. It would be the best course of action.

In the first part I assume your correct which makes it seem unlikely that you would want to conquer any such distant and hard to hold place unless you get tons of prestige for it. On the second part I kind of hope your wrong, except in the case of Iberian provinces and Iberian kingdoms. If you could just annex them I doubt we would ever see the actual Crusader Kingdoms arrise as I assume any player would just annex Jerusalem instead of set it up as an independent kingdom. I have no clue really, I am just trying to figure out how this works.

Probably haveto set up a vassalage, or perhaps give the land to the papacy for even more prestige. The only thing is you might be crusading with fellow Christians of another region...so there'd haveto be some way to figure out who gets the area.

I like the way you crusade!! My kind of crusading!:)

I would be very disappointed if you can easily keep your conquered lands in the Middle East, if your mother country isn't close to it.

Yeah I can just imagine some swedish king getting a letter from his Egyptian vassal that is two years old telling him that he is under attack from neighboring arabs. He sends a reply and then gets one back in about four years from the arabs telling him that his vassal has been dead nearly six years.
