Summary

CS2 Freezes when starting the game

Steps to reproduce

Since the latest update I haven't played the game, today I tried to play it, and I got a black screen during start-up and it froze my pc

Expected Result

I checked game integrity files, and since then I get the loading screen of CS2 but it freezes at virtual texture loading at around 11 pct and then does nothing

Actual Result

I tried loading the game without mods, I've waited and restarted several times, pc and game and none of it helped, unfortunately.

Haven't seen this one before. You can try running a verify file integrity on steam. If it DOESN'T find anything to repair, then uninstall the game
After uninstalling, go to C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/ and delete the folder Cities Skylines II
reinstall. Otherwise, try the game again.
There is another report that says placing files in the Cities Skylines II folder can cause crashes-not sure if you did that, but just in case that happened somehow, it should at least eliminate that as a possibility. If the game crashes still, we can move on to other things to try.

Thanks for the post!
May I ask if you have verified your files?

Thank you for your replies.

I did verify the game files and that helped, instead of a black screen, I got the regular start-up screen.

  • I have uninstalled the game, and deleted the C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/ cities II folder.
  • Reinstalled the game.
  • That worked partly as it took a while to load all the mods

Then I got this error message

So, at least I get the game running again, but its not playable yet because I have tried clicked okay and continue but the game crashes quite fast after this error.

now that we are past one cause, can you post new player.log after you crash again? the enumeration warning is annoying but generally harmless and not likely to be causing a crash (either FindIt or Asset Pack Manager trigger this warning)

Thank you! The Zone Color changer is the likely cause of the crash.

The Melbourne grafiti pack is known to cause issues so you may want to unsub from that as well
The Farming Surfaces and Decals hasn't been updated in a while-there seems to be some issue with it in your logs

I would strongly advise unsubbing from Melbourne graffiti pack, and Zone Color Changer

For Farming Surfaces, first go to C:\Users\janth\AppData\LocalLow\Colossal Order\Cities Skylines II\.cache\Mods\mods_subscribed
and delete folder called 95080_1
to rebuild the mod data (redownload) for it

This has solved it! I have been playing the game for hours, waiting for crashes, but so far there are none. Thanks so much for your quick help, I really appreciate it!
