I have had a problem with some problems with CTD but this I can't get past. No research/units are due on 11/8 but no matter what I do it crashes. I downloaded the latest nvidia driver and have downloaded the 1.05 patch. I have a dell inspiron 8100 with PIII 1.1, 256 meg RAM. XP home. (I notice Oppie had a dell too. similar problem or coincidence.)

I lower to 16 bit color and it crashes. (Oppie crashed on 1-18 in 42 mine on 11-8 in 44. Is there something with 1-1-8 that is causing this or more coincidence?)

This happens whether I run from autosave (11-1) an 11-4 save or an 11-7 (22:00) save.

I am not able to select a diff country at the start.

I have the ruskies pinned in the urals and the caucases so help so I can finish them off!

Rename your AVI folder to AVI_back.

Also try running the HOIFIX program on your save game, that may help.

You may also want to try playing the game as some out of the way nation until you are past that date, then save, exit and reload playing as your original nation.

It works now

Not sure what HOIfix is - how do I access it for future reference.

I used the scenario editor and converted the game to a scenario and moved the date to 11/8/44 as the start and it worked. So I can go back to enjoying the game.

thank you

HOIFIX is a utility that can be dowloaded from the bug forum, I think there is a link to it in the usefull sites sticky thread in this forum as well.

It is a utility that fixes some save games so they are playable.
