Like alot of people here I've had CTD problems with the 1.07 patch. I've followed the advice given concerning renaming avi folder to avi_old, and turning off music. I had the odd crash put the game was alot more stable. I did have one other problem though. Upon exiting the game my desktop would be at 800X600
and color would change to 16 bit. My desktop is set at 1024X768 32 bit.I run EUII at 1024X768. It was easy enough to change the resolution back without re-booting. I'm not sure how high the colors are supported in EUII perhaps someone could give me a heads up? In anycase I decided to try a little experiment. I changed my desktop to 800X600 16 bit color.I re-enabled the avi folder and turned the sound back on. My games have been rock solid stable ever since. :D Perhaps this may help some of you.
Good luck,

maybe you can make another experiment.

try playing at 32 bit 800X600 and the other way around to se which factor(or both?) that increases stability

I can play EU2 at any setting I like if my desktop is in 800x600 32 bit. If I change my desktop setting the game always CTDs when starting to lóad the scenario. This did not happen on other patches. I have latest directX and drivers installed.

EDIT: Renaming the AVI folder solved it for me. I'm running XP

Okay, sorry for the delay, MrT is away for awhile.

This is almost always cause by the bink player.

Although some on Win 98 or earlier may still experiance it even with the bink disabled.

I'm running windows 98SE with all the latest drivers. SB Live Gamer, GF4 4200 128 with latest detonator drivers. AMD TBird 1.1
I don't see any difference between 32 bit and 16 bit in the game.
I'm continuing to run the game at 800X600 16 bit with no problems. I did disable the Avi file just because it was annoying. I've played it at 32 bit juv95hrn and didn't notice a difference. I have had the odd problem of the desktop locking up when I went to change resolution after exiting. So I now restart the computer when changing res before and after and that seems to have cleared it up. I played the American dream scenario with no problems.

Cheers,

Back before I upgraded I found that it was better at higher resolutions than at 800x600, maybe match your desktop settings.

Sorry I meant my desktop was changed to 800X600 16 bit color while I run the game at 1024X768. When I matched desktop to game I had CTD problems which is why I posted, what I thought might help others clear up some CTD problems. By keeping my desktop at 800X600 while playing the game I have had no problems running the game.

Cheers :p

Okay, I will add that to our knowledge base.
