Game Version & Patch (incl. publisher):Running v1.05c

OS & build/SP: Win XP Home

Computer, CPU & speed: Dell 8200 P4 1.8

RAM:256

Free HDD space: 44 gig

Video (brand, model, driver, memory): Ge Force3 Ti 200

Sound (brand, model, driver): SB Live Wave

DirectX Version: 9.0b

Other:

I read the stickies but I still have the following problem: CTD 1/18/42 - just as Marines land on Bonin Island in Pacific

When you load the Autosave, does the game crash on that date everytime?

Does it lock up or does it crash to the desktop?

Crash to desktop on the same date and time.

I suspect that it is event related because I hear the sound fx for a an event but it crashes before it appears on the screen.

BTW - I'm using the 1.05c tweak already - not sure I mentioned that in the above post.

Re read your question. It isn't an autosave that I load up. I saved the game on 1/16/42. When I load that game up it crashes again and again to desktop.

I've re-loaded the autosave and just sped through to the crash date and it doesn't crash then. Unfortunately the autosave is for dec. 1 41. I guess i could start playing again from that save, but I'm a bit wary of HoI in general now. You invest a lot of time and thought into the game and then to have it be able to blink off at any given time is a little disconcerting.

Make sure the autosave is set to monthly.
That way if there is a problem you do not have to go back as far.
Also you may try the HOIfix program for save games.

CTD yatta yatta yatta

tried the fix utility - nothing. Still crashes.

Checked the history and the last recorded event before crash was "your planes have engaged the enemy over the sea of bonin".

In addition, does the "savedebug" text file that I see in the HoI folder serve any purpose? should I be looking for something in there?

BTW - Thanks for all the help that you've supplied. Although there hasn't been any magic cure, I am appreciative of he effort and deication you put into helping me out.

I will PM you my mail address, and you can zip and send the save to me.
