Technical Problem

I have a technical problem that I need your help with please.

Game Version & Patch (incl. publisher): HOI2, Doomsday, and Armageddon. Doomsday Armageddon v1.2 (VBLV). Publisher is Paradox Interactive right?

OS & build/SP: Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 Build 6002.

Computer, CPU & speed: Dell Core 2 Quad CPU 2.4Ghz

RAM: 4Gb

Free HDD space: 165Gb free (of 288Gb)

Video (brand, model, driver, memory): Dual NVIDIA GEForce 8800 GT; Driver 7.15.0011.7474 (English); 1647 MB total memory

Sound (brand, model, driver): Soundblaster Creative SB X-Fi; Driver 6.00.0001.1283

DirectX Version: 10

I read the stickies but I still have the following problem:

* I've been playing the game for months with expansions without trouble. I recently downloaded some various updates for the system from Dell, and after that the game can't load. The intro screen works fine, and I get to the game start options screen (where you choose nation and scenario and such) I've tried running saved games, as well as starting new scenarios. Every time it's the same problem. When I click the start game button it crashes.

Will be happy to provide any other information if necessary. Help please!!

Do I have the plague or something here? HOI2 is my favorite Paradox game and I haven't been able to play it for weeks. It's driving me crazy! Please somebody help!

- Try running in windowed mode - instructions here : http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=258502

- reinstall the game into a custom folder such as games\doomsday, not into program files

I can run the game in windowed mode. Not sure why it has to be that way now, but it works so who cares right?

I have to be honest, I don't really LIKE the windowed mode, but at the same time, it's way better than the mode it was in (the "crash mode").

Final Q - is there any way to maximize the window? The window it's in lacks those options by any way I can tell, and it's kind of goofed up the look of the icons and the buttons in the window. They're kind of "squished" - not sure how to describe properly.

No problem.

Depending on your monitor, it may just be that the interface had been slightly 'stretched' before.

You could try lowering the resolution of your desktop, which should enlarge the window.
