Well, Welcome!!!
Sorry your first post had to be here. :)

Lets try a few things to get you going.
1) Rename your AVI folder to AVI_back
2) Make sure you have patch 1.03b
3) Update your Audio and Video drivers to the most current
4) Update your operating system to make sure you have all the updates.

If none of that helps please post your full system specs here so that we can investigate more options.

Good luck.

I need a little more to go on than that.
I need driver build versions for your Video and Audio.
I need to know which version of the game you have. Publisher and patch level.
Also what version of DirectX are you using?
What about your Audio card.

I see you have XP, Did you get the update that fixes intro video / Splash screen problems.

Another thing to try is to disable the music using The HOI config program.

Also start a list everytime it crashes and note what you just did, who you were playing and the date.

Another question? Does it still crash at the same spot when you continue the game from your autosave?

Driver build version is the numerical identifier for the driver. just like 1.03b is for our latest patch. If you click on the properties tag for your video and sound card you should be able to find this info.
It will be a long series of numbers, sometimes with a date as well.

You use DirectX9 as well, you do know there were several version of 9 some of them buggy.

Also So you are saying that when you reload the game you can continue on as if nothing happened right. How many times in a game does it crash?

Video driver version: 6.13.0010.3082

I don't have one for my sound card.

Okay there is your problem.
You are using an out of date driver.
You are using Driver 3082 which has known problems, There have been 4 updates to those drivers since 3082.

This is even in the Known problems sticky thread at the top of this forum.

Update your Video driver and you should be fine.

I do not know if the link above will work for you if not, go to the Nvidia web site and click on driver download, the latest version is 4109.

I am not on XP and do not have that card so I will ask MrT to advise you. I will PM him and ask him to take a look.

One thing I did remember about those drivers, It is recommended that you first change your setting to default standard VGA drivers first.
Reboot and then install the new driver. This clears out the old driver.

Not a problem glad we could help.

In the future though please read the questions and answers carefully, as you can imagine it is very hard to diagnose things long distance, and twice you said you had done something when you had not actually followed the instructions(DL latest drivers, Wait for install to finish), this makes it very difficult for us to help since we think you tried and it did not work. For example if I had not been suspicious and asked you for your driver version (since you said you had already done the items I listed including updating your Video driver) You would still be stuck with a game that Crashed all the time and we would have had you going crazy trying more and more exotic things to fix the problem.

At any rate, I am not getting on your case or anything, just offering general advice in case you need tech support again here or for another product in the future.

Happy conquests! :)
