I tried the other x64 (DX9 and 10) and x86 executable files; same result except that the application name has the other exe files rather than the DX11 X64bit one. I tried running as Admin, tried setting the compatibility level to XP SP3, etc etc.
The default Steam launcher doesn't work. Tried that first.

Win 7 64 Ultimate, fully patched.
Radeon 6970 with latest AMD drivers.
Core 2 Quad, 8GB RAM.
Eyefinity set up at 3600x1920.
Tried lower resolutions as well (1800x800;1200x1920,etc); No help.
I've never had trouble running a game or any application before.

I also verified the game cache and even deleted local files and reinstalled.

Any ideas? thx

I'm here but I can't solve this on my own, I'll show this to our tech guys tomorrow (it's already 23:13 here, quite late and they are already out of office).

All I can tell you in the meantime is that eyefinity is not supported by the game, but I see you said you tried lower resolutions. So we'll see tomorrow.

Thank you Kate.

I did some more troubleshooting, and it seems that the issue has to do with display aspect ratios. The game will only run in very specific resolutions, so even if I reduce my eyefinity set up to 1800x800 it still crashes.
If I turn off eyefinity, but keep the monitors rotated into portrait mode, so that each monitor displays the same 800x1280 or 1200x1920 image then the game still crashes.
If I rotate the monitors and change the resolution or 1280x800 or 1920x1200 then it works. So even a single monitor in portrait mode would fail.
Is there a way to run the game in windowed mode or else get it to understand more resolutions?

Thx.
