I am playing as the germans. The year is 1941 and after I saved the game and came back it crashes to the desktop after a few minutes of play.

It does not seem to be triggered by any event that I can tell since it does not always happen at the same time.

My system is pretty new and does not have any graphics problems with any other games. Quick run down -

Dell Dimension

2.66GhZ Intel processor
1 GB Ram
GeForce4 MX 420 64 MB
DX Version 8.1
Creative Labs SB Live series

Such a shame too since this IS the best grand stratedgy WWII game that I have ever seen and I've played lots and lots of them =)

Please - patch this problem or whatever you need to do to fix this. Hate to see such a great game go down the drain because of bugs... Well I hate to lose the few hours of game play too because I want to finish that game I started! =)

Thanks

Bob

What he said. :)

I am using Windows XP professional version 2002 with SP 1 installed.

My Video driver is NVIDIA 2.8.4.1 dated 4/8/2002

I am patched with Version 1.05 of HOI

I hope this helps find a solution to the problem. Until it's fixed I doubt I will play another game. Hate to spend all those hours only to see my work go *poof*

Your video driver is way out of date. I suggest upgrading to the latest driver.

First thing for both of you to try is renaming your AVI folder to AVI_back.

Ah! I found the other thread you werew talking about.

But that patch caused CTDs from time to time, even in the main menu with no reason - I mean they are not connected with anything.
I removed all the TSRs, I could, from memory, got all new drivers.
I dunno may be it is the soundcard - I have Abit Home Theater (AU 10). May be I sould install DirectX 9.
2 Maximilian I : I didn't have any mods, if the game on cd hadn't (I have the game from snowball int. and 1C - which is published in Russia, it isn't pirate game). The game is in English, and I patch it with ENG_versions of patches.

Do you have the russian version of windows?

You have the snowball version right?
And you DLed the patch from them?

I found out one interesting thing, yesterday I started new campaign for France 1939, and played without CTDs fo about two hours, but when I want to play my previos campaign (load game) I will get CTD in a few minutes, e.g. - starting new campaign gives more time to play.
Now I'll try deleting, reinstalling and patching the game once again.

You need the snowball patches!!!

The English patch on the paradox site is for the Koch version of the game.

A similar problem, but playing with the USSR

I never have experienced a CTD playing HoI, but I've found this pesky problem playing with USSR the Road to War scenario.

The CTD occurs on January 24, 1942 (I checked it 3 times), regardless of what I'm doing (attacking, moving units... or nothing).

I have the Spanish version with the patch 1.05b installed. The game settings were: Difficult/Agressive. Also I checked the problem playing at diferent speeds.

My system's specifications are:

Computer: Toshiba Satellite 1900-102
Processor: intel pentium 4 - 1.7 GHz
Memory: 254 MB RAM
OS: Windows XP Home edition
DirectX version: 9.0
Display device: ATI Mobility M6 - 16 MB

I hope this report will help you to fix it.

Thank you.;)

If your game crashes on the same day everytime, then I doubt it is a hardware problem.
Report it in the Bug forum please.

You can do a search on it first to see if it has already been reported.
