Have tried deleting map cache .bin files, no effect. Tried running in admin mode (no effect), tried running in compatibility mode (game suffers an unspecified error and does not load up). This is not a startup problem so the JIT fix doesn't apply.

Running v2.32 Rome Gold on a Win7 (32 bit) computer. It runs perfectly, it just seems to encounter a specific error on a specific day in-game which causes the game to CTD. Nothing unusual going on in-game. I am not at war, the only movement is an army on the way to Bononia to fend off some pesky barbarians.

Starting normally I am able to load my one savegame (deleted others just in case that was causing the problem). Loads fine, exactly 5 in-game days after the save the game CTDs with this:

No idea what that all means. I have included the error.log (converted to .txt for upload) below for reference. Please have a look and see what's causing this. Also included is the full log file zipped as requested on another thread.

Many thanks.

Those errors in errors.txt are normal and nothing to do with your problem.

What is not normal is
Setup[rome_application.cpp:552]: Checksum is Rome v2.32c (MVZL) 954783166
An incorrect checksum. I suggest a full clean reinstall. First move any valued save games elsewhere.

Steam: uninstall the game and manually delete the Rome directories and files under the Steam directory. Re-install the game from Steam, and then use the Steam client option to Verify Game Cache. Run it up, exit, and run it up again to make sure the checksum is right per the link above.

Non-Steam: uninstall the game, and then manually delete the game directory - this is important. Reinstall Rome:Gold - choose a new directory like c:\games\rome\ instead of the suggested path. Download the 2.32c patch, and run it to install it; make 100% sure you point it to that same new directory above so that for instance the new rome.exe overwites the old one, the new romegame.exe overwrites the old one, and so on. Once done right-click on the game's desktop icon and set it to run as administrator, and to disable desktop composition.

I can't promise it will fix your crashes but it's definitely a necessary first step.
