I posted this in the EEP forum, but there's not a lot of traffic there so I thought I'd give it a go in here:

I'm using 1.07 and EEP 1.4.1.

I'm playing Spain, the year is 1641. While the game is paused I tried to diploannex Portugal. They agreed so I started to look at all my new overseas provinces. After like 5 seconds of nothing happening but me scrolling around on the map, game still being paused, I get a CTD. Now, if I start up again and try to diploannex Portugal I hear the agree chime and for a split second I see the agree message and then CTD. It doesn't matter if I wait a month or year before I try; the CTD is certain. I thought that it could have something to do with Portugal's major power status so I edited the savegame but to no avail.

What can I do?

Try loading the most recent autosave, run forward and try the annex again. Hopefully like a sensible person you autosave every year.

Of course, autosave is what makes the world go around.

And I have sorta done what you've suggested. After it happened the first time I loaded the autosave and since then I've saved before every attempt and loaded from there when it CTD'd. I'm now about 5 years from the point when I first tried, and it still CTD's, but I'm wary to continue on before finding a solution to this (I really want Portugal).

Well, there's nothing more we can do here. I'm sure the problem is with EEP, as no-one has reported anything similar with straight EU2.

He stated theta he had cross posted, So I will just close this one and he can seek further advice in the EEP thread.
