CTD when clicking Diplomacy button

Hi,

US game, v1.3b, October 1, 1944. Click the Diplomacy button in the upper right corner, get crash to desktop with DDHelp error.

System: AMD 1.4, Win98SE, DX9, GeForce 2 MX 400 w 32mb, Soundblaster Audigy

I can send the save file if its needed. This happened before with a previous version and a previous game (this game was started with 1.3b).

You say it happened with a previous game as well, Do you mean it crashed on the same date?

Sorry, I do not know the date of the previous game that crashed. However, it was also a US game and I used the same basic strategy in that game as in this one (take Central Pacific Islands, then Taiwan, then Japan, then China, then Siam, Burma, and India).

I can try to duplicate it, too, though it will take a little while to get that far.

If you load your save game in does it crash at the same time, can it be duplicated that way?

Yes, that is correct, it happens every time.

I took the game and save game file to work, installed the game and 1.3b patch, loaded up save game, click diplomacy button and it too CTDs.

Machine at work is a Dell P4-2.4 with GF4 64mb, Win2k Pro, 1 g ram, direct-X 8.1b.

I can send the save file if you need to see it. RAR'd up it is about 225k.

That save definately has some troubles.
I tried it and it crashed for me as well.

Did you just have an election perchance since I know there is a USA election bug in the game that happens in that year but I thought it was Nov 1 and you are in Oct.

First, thanks for confirming the problem, it is heartening to know it isn't a DX bug or something else with my systems.

No, I don't recall a recent election or anything, other than the disolusion of Japan and Germany, that was remarkable about the game.

I will start a new game as US and see if I can make it happen again, this time keeping better track of events and times and save files. It will take a few days to get that far, though.

If it happens again post it in the bug forum, since it is not hardware related if three different systems have the crash.
In fact feel free to do so with this one.
