A few months ago, everything with EU2 was stable with no crashes. I didn't play for a long time and in between I added a second CD drive (now the first drive letter) and upgraded to DirectX 8.1. Now, EU2 still loads OK, I select a country and campaign, and when I click the Start button the screen blanks, then goes back to the desktop. This happens every time (in theory, that should make it easier to fix). I reinstalled and found this happens with the 1.0 version from the CD and also after the 1.05 patch. Everything else I use is stable, so I really don't want to change drivers and run the risk of something else not working. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am running an AMD (1700?) with a GeForce2 Pro and 21.83 drivers and a SBLive on a Win98 system with 512M memory. Disabling sound on EU2 setup and/or changing the screen resolution settings did not help.

copy protection problem.

if you try from your older CD, does it still work?

if not, you will have to e-mail Strategy First tech support and tell them about your problem (post a link to this thread, or copy& paste your post and my response).

Same problem with either CD drive. I've emailed StrategyFirst as you suggested. One small question though. It seems a little different that copy protection problems occur after the game has loaded and let me make initial selections instead of preventing me from even starting the game. Can you explain a little more while I'm waiting for the StrategyFirst reply? Thanks.
