Have you renamed your AVI folder to AVI_back?
Try that.

Yes, no effect. The videos run fine. I'm using 1.3a and hotfix.

If you renamed your AVI folder you should not have any Videos playing.

Ya we do not support user mods or edits, my advice is to wipe the game and mods from your system and do a fresh install, you can get manual uninstall instructions in the sticky thread on the subject.

And renaming the AVI folder has nothing to do with solving problems with the opening movies.
It has to do with it the Bink player not unloading itself from memory properly and causing random problems in game, such as the problem you described.
