Hi, I have just recently been getting a ctd while playing a multiplayer game with a friend and my brother. What usually happens is that we get a little ways into the game, then *poof*, one of us ctds. I have tried all of the things I have seen suggested, such as running a DxDiag, but no problems were found in my DirectX. Usually, if my computer ctds, I just get a straight ctd with no error message or anything, but if my brother's comp crashes, or my friend's comp crashes, they get a window saying that "HOI has encountered an error, sorry for the inconvinience". Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, we also play on a LAN, could the problem be something with that?

If you do not get these crashes with SP then I will move you on to the experts in the MP forum.

It happens, unfortunately. You should make sure you dont have any adware on your comp (run spybot) but there's really no ultimate cure. Every now and then something comes up that the engine can't handle. As for the error messages this probably depends on their operating system. In XP with sp2 you get the message you describe.

Last night you even ctd'ed at the scenario load, didn't you? (I was there by mistake and I sure ctd'ed :) )

One more piece of advice: if you have ICQ you may want to shut that (and any other running application for that matter) down. ICQ has a nasty habit of wanting to bring itself into the front and it can crash HOI when HOI is doing fileaccess at the same time, it seems.

Yeah, we all crashed several times on load because of a corrupt save. Those are the worst.

I think crashing in HOI is so regular, I would be amazed if there are people in MP games who never crash  .

Last game I played was via direct connect, and for some reason, it seems it runs more stable then via Vnet. That doesn't explain away your problem with running on LAN though...

Sorry I don't have a solution for you, but my guess is you just need to be patient, and save regularly to enjoy this game in multiplayer. For some reason, it's that good that I stick with it and endure the crashes.
