Greetings.

I recently installed HoI2 on a netbook (Acer Aspire One) to see how it works, and after searching some help over here I managed to get the game running in main menus and so on, but the problem is this:

Everytime I select a scenario and click "start", several seconds after this the game crashes and Windows gives an error that hoi2 has made illegal operation and must be shut down. I've tried several diffrent compability modes with no success so far.

Any ideas to get past this or "shit happens" ?

Yes I have done that. I did practically every basic step included in several other threads to get it working (renamed avi folder, uncheck "don't display resolutions the driver doesn't support") etc, but as noted in OP, no matter what scenario I start it simply crashes several seconds after you hit the start button.

Yes, but I think I might have 'fixed' it.

I booted the computer not too long time ago after installing several Windows patches and decided to give one of the compability modes another go and for some odd reason it works now. I took off the compability mode and it still works without crashing anymore.

I really have no idea what that boot did or not, but atleast it works now

And thank you for your help.
