There are custom Cargo Planes on the Workshop but when I try to bring a different model into the game it is invisible. The asset looks fine in Asset Editor but when in-game the asset is invisible unless viewed through a "special" viewport, such as the water, electricity, fire protection, or other types of views. Then, the asset can be seen in blue monochrome, and it functions as intended. However, in "normal view" the asset is completely invisible. I can see where the asset is by positioning the mouse cursor there and it highlights the blue rectangle around the asset, as normal.

I have tested this with both the mesh I am trying to import into the game as well as a simple test mesh of a basic cube. I have tried this with the default submeshes and with no submeshes and it is the same result every time.

Why is the cargo plane not allowing me to bring-in an asset to customize it? I know it is possible - they exist on the Workshop. How?

Yes. I have tried. Cannot message a Steam user without being Friends, first, so it is not easy or quick. In the meantime, I was hoping someone here would know why this whole process is engineered to be problematic - it is almost as if Paradox doesn't actually want people to be able to add assets to the game unless those people have inside knowledge about programming and how the game is coded, or knowledge enough to reverse-engineer parts of it in order to determine what is needed. I am not a novice - I have brought many assets into the Workshop and have never had a problem like this. The cargo plane should not be any more difficult to replace with a custom model than any other asset, yet it is. I am asking why, not just for some help resolving the issue. I am raising this as a systemic flaw with the game's design.

SvenBerlin, a well known asset creator who has successfully published custom cargo airplanes on the Workshop, tried my asset and experienced the same issues. It does, indeed, seem like something was broken, possibly when the Airport DLC was released, and now custom cargo planes won't work in-game, at least not visibly...

And to whichever moderator moved this thread to "modding and resources" I wish you hadn't. There is so much less chance now that someone will see it and respond.

This forum is barely active. It receives maybe 1/2 a post a month. This is far from rampant clutter. Please consider leaving people's posts where they write them - it is irksome to have gatekeepers, especially in such an anemic forum.
