Hi everyone,

I'm currently working on a Cities Skylines series telling the story of a land being discovered for the first time and tracking it's development over the years from small colony to established city.

There are plenty of wonderful props and assets to contribute towards the overall look of the city in it's early years, however I was hoping someone would be able to help me with a custom road.

I'm currently using Urbanist's beautiful brick suburban road: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1309847529&searchtext=brick

I'm looking to introduce trams to the city, but the only options available are on asphalt and this doesn't match with the overall theme of the city. I was hoping that someone would be able to make a 32m 4 lane wide road with this brick texture and then 2 tram lanes running down the middle, similar to this:

I've tried my hand at Modding but unfortunately it is a bit overwhelming. If there is a modder out there who can spare some time to help me create this road it would be much appreciated!

Honestly, I don't know the modding community here very well, but your best bet would likely be rather than post a request openly, find a specific modder who makes similar mods and ask them directly. A good start might be the person who made the roads you use. Considering they are the creator of the road which has the exact texture you want, why not just send that person a message on Steam, or post a comment directly to that mod, requesting a 4-lane brick road with two tram lanes. They are likely going to be the only one to make such a road anyway, considering it is based on one of their custom roads.

Thank you - I will ask the modder directly but I noted that he is busy at the moment. Would love to learn how to do it myself but the 3D modelling software isn't very intuitive! I'll keep at it..

Which 3D software do you use?

I've been writing a street editor tutorial since November 2017, don't always have time to work on it, this is a mega project.

Starting with changing existing roads, speed, creating a road with construction site lane(s), changing props/decorations, instead of elevated road, road with backfill left/right.

Then it goes on, how one can adapt the surfaces of a road, i.e. remove zebra crossing and more.

The next step is to create a complete new road, starting with the 3D editor (Blender), Vertex Paint, UV mesh and texturing.

It explains what you have to pay attention to, what is important to avoid unpleasant effects later in the game.

Importing all required objects for the new road and setting all parameters, lanes and props.

I keep encountering problems with the road editor, there are bugs that have existed since the road editor appeared and are also known as CO, at least I reported them, for example "Slope" here you can't set a color for the road surface.

The whole and also some more, monorail tracks can only be monorailed, here you can change the vehicle type but then these changed tracks no longer work in the game.

Because of these and other mistakes and problems, there is always a lot to test, I have enough ideas for streets and co.

I use Blender, or at least I try to.
I don't do Sities: Skylines mods, though, as the minimum requirements changed since I bought the game, and I can no longer play it. Waste of money.

Why have the minimum requirements changed?

Colossal Order prevents you from giving the game a performance update, let alone revising the AI.

I started with Blender shortly before version 2.77 was released, I still don't know all about Blender
