OK well as times goes on I'm getting more and more into this again despite my obvious issues with the BB system still. But hay the game is still lots of fun nonetheless and soon I will learn how to mod the BB system (hopefully) so all will be good. As my primary effort to learn more about the mechanics of the game file structure wise, I decided to do a small mod project.

As the title of this post states I chose to start with Poland since it is my country of choice for play. I was going to do historical CoA since I have a map of them but in the end decided to try my hand at designing some since I'm really fascinated with the whole heraldry thing. So far I have made and remade several shields and tested them in game and have learned a lot about file structure and naming conventions as well as been able to build a sizeable archive of CoA elements to pull ideas from so it has been a worthwhile endeavor on several levels to date.

I think I'm about ready to start my final designs and have even created a system for the designs. I hope all works out well with it. Nevertheless, if anyone is interested I will post them once I'm done. I'm almost inspired to consider do this for the other starting factions in the game but with Rome coming out soon as well as my real life obligations I don’t think I would have time to such a thing properly within a reasonable about of time. However if one or two others are interested in doing such major project I really make an effort facilitate it in a timely and professional manner.

Anyway, I should be done with the entire Polish starting CoA set by Monday if anyone is interested.

I can't make new CoA myself, but I am certainly interested in new CoA. So yes please, post them when you are ready.

I loved the map of Poland you linked to BTW :)

Cool. I'm no artist by a long shot but I try nonetheless. It took me about five hours to figure out all the counties for the Polish and what shields are used for them as well as for the duchy titles shields.

If I understand everything correctly I should be making:

a. Six (6) for King Boleslaw
b. Three (3) for Archbishop Stanislaw
c. Three (3) for Archbishop Bogumil
d. One (1) for Count Janislaw
e. Three (3) for Prince Wladyslaw
f. One (1) for Count Jaroslaw
g. Four (4) for Count Wszebor

Thanks for the comment on the map. You should send an email to the guy who made it. I'm sure he would appreciate it greatly. :)

As an added bonus I will include a new CoA for "none" and "rebels". That hot pink thing just hurt my eyes and the rebels one was to damn boring.

On a side note I would really like to replace all the color only CoAs for all the minors. I have many thousands of CoAs for France, Poland, Germany, Britain and Italy but methinks they would not go over well with the community from a purist perspective.

I really wish they would allow us to post attachments here but oh well that is why I set up my own domains and forums as well as FTP servers. :D

OK I will post them in large size in separate threads. After I get the set finished I will post a single Polish CoA set image in the first post.

The King

This is the CoA for the King. It is my sixth version. I'm leanig towards simple elegance. This is so since I play at a very high resoultion the more finer details are lost on me accordingly.

Archbishop Stanislaw

This has proven to be a very difficult one to make. I have tried many ecclesiastical elements and they look to busy or cheesy to me. In keeping a refined elegance in mind I opted for a single object like with the King image. I also decided to go with white over black given the psychological penchant people have to associate white with purity and piety.

This is the image I made for the prince. I decided to stick with the basically the same color palette as the king and depict the royal linage as well. The core element of this image is from a traditional Polish CoA.

Nice project ...looking forward to seeing the final results :)

As for None and Rebels ...I would suggest Veld's :) ...a nice white is always good for None, and he has one with three axes on a red background for rebels.

Very nice.

But how will they look in-game, do you have a pictur of that ?

And are you going to use the metal-texture or the wood-texture ?

@Tempest - Thanks. I'm looking forward to it as well. Some of these still don’t sit well with me. I may do some revisions once I have more of them done to tighten up the overall look and feel. Regarding Veld's mods I was not aware there was a one for rebs & none. I'll check it out if I can find it. I don’t know how I missed it to be honest. It is not like there are many threads in this forum.

@Veld - Thank as well. You would not believe the amount of time I have put into this already just doing the are research and trying to spin it and be creative and have it all look good in game. I have not taken a pict of anything in game but they look real good to me at 1600x1200 res so I can only assume they rock at lower levels. Regarding the textures, I'm not planning on it for myself since I like sharp clear lines. This why I have issues with the ecclesiastical iconography since it is so detailed and looks so muddled to me at high resolution.
