Summary
Cut-scene audio loops on repeat on game launchDescription
Audio from what sounds like a cut-scene is played when I launch the game. It starts with "my mother said..." and plays for a few minutes. The audio repeats and overlaps with itself, and never stops. The audio replays itself when I click the space bar in game. The game is unplayable. I've uninstalled and reinstalled and it still happens. After reaching out to paradox support, I have followed the recommended steps and unfortunately the issue has gotten worse! The audio plays on more loops than before and starts earlier. I made sure to delete all files in the Steam and C drive, reinstalled and ran the Steam Verify (no issues), added it to my ransomware exceptions list.
A few other things to note:
- the game has worked perfectly for the last year until one or two days ago
- No programs running in the background
- it occurs when I launch via Steam - the game version is 1.9.2.1 (Lance)
- if I launch the game via the paradox launcher, the game version is 1.6.1.2 (Castle). The audio issue does not occur with this version.
So, the issue is related to the latest game version. Has anyone else reported issues? I have no idea where or how the audio is coming from, but it's a man's voice talking about deceiving and murdering his wife and family, there are clinks of swords etc throughout...its very CK!
UPDATE - I recorded my screen using the windows game bar. The audio is NOT coming from the CK3 program. The only explanation is that it's coming from Steam.
